Since February 2008: Serve as Coordinator of Worcester Local First, an economic-sustainability campaign founded in September 2007 to encourage Worcester consumers to "think local first" when buying products and services. In August 2008, Worcester Local First published 30,000 copies its 2008 Business Directory, which contains listings for the 200+ members plus 20 pages of ads by member businesses.
Since April 2007: Co-host the weekly, one-hour Energy Freedom Fighters talk show on True Talk 830 AM WCRN, whose 50,000-watt signal reaches all of New England during the day and half of the U.S. and Canada at night.
Since June 2006: Provide media and communications services to the annual AltWheels Festival, an alternative transportation and energy event held at Boston's City Hall Plaza and the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA. The 2006 event was attended by more than 20,000 people and lined up more than $120,000 worth of media sponsorships. The 2007 event was attended by more than 35,000 people and lined up more than $150,000 worth of media sponsorships.
Since August 2004: Provide market-strategy, corporate-communications, media-relations and public-affairs services to Common Pathways, a local "healthy communities" initiative whose mission is to promote shared learning, reflection and broad engagement that improves community decision-making and quality of life for all residents of Worcester, MA. Developed and maintained web pages for Community Pathways' First Community Forum in November 2005 and Second Community Forum in April 2006.
Since June 2004: Serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Central Massachusetts in Worcester, MA, a private, charitable, non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that every child has a fundamental understanding of the free-enterprise system. Current three-year term runs until June 30, 2010. In the past three years, JA of Central Mass. has won the JA Worldwide 2007 Collaboration Award, the JA Worldwide 2007 MetLife Entrepreneurial Award and the JA Worldwide 2005 and 2006 Peak Performance Awards.
Since September 1995: Host the The Business Beat, a 30-minute Q&A on Central Massachusetts and Massachusetts business and economic development issues, which is broadcast and webcast Sundays at 10 p.m. (Eastern) on WICN/90.5 FM in Worcester, MA, and at WICN.org. From January 2006 to January 2007, co-hosted "This New Car," a 26-week special edition of The Business Beat, which focused on hybrids and alternative-fuel vehicles.
